Caballo Verde Ridge (west to east) – Extended (the more difficult option)
A circular route to and along the ridge (from west to east) descending under Penyo Roig towards Fleix and back to Benimaurell The extended section increases the overall distance of the walk by 4km and is all at the beginning of the walk. The first 3km of this extension, is a descent down a splendid Mosarabic path and then a section “off-piste” following animal tracks. It is steep, uphill and a little slippery in parts, particularly during or after recent rain, and has one short distance of exposure. A challenging but satisfying section. The remainder is fine. This initial section can be avoided by taking an alternative route, details of which will be given in the full walk description. The ridge section has a couple of simple scrambles.

The grade of this walk is S/B, which means
S – Strenuous: More than 600 metres ascent and/or more than 15km in length with steep, loose or heavily vegetated sections.
B – Less than half the route on rough ground.

Hi, I am writing a book of fiction called The Green Horse (Caballo Verde.) Could you tell me what type of rock is predominant in the area. E.G. Is it Granite, Basalt etc. It may sound a strange request, but important for me to get the facts right. Regards Stuart.
Hi Stuart, sorry for the delay in replying – missed your comment – but the rock type all around the CB is Limestone. Hope that helps,
Ralph Phipps
