Cova Tallada and Torre de Gerro from Las Rotas
Cova Tallada is a man made cave which is a popular bathing spot for those not wanting to spend time on a beach.
An interesting walk on a hot summer day with the option to extend it up to the ridge and along to the Torre or just return directly from the cave.

From the CV736 which runs between Javea and Denia, close to Denia look out for the minor road to Las Rotas (or Les Rotes in Valencian). Follow this to the end and a turning circle where you can park. If this is full there are spaces a little further back the way you came. |

I accidently voted two stars, when trying to view comments. I don’t think it should be E – yes it is short, but requires care (just done the walk down to the cove as an extension to a trip up Montgo – some is steeper than on the mountain). Worth doing if confident.
Yes, it’s a tricky walk. The description ALREADY contains the following health warning:-
“Although a short and popular walk the going underfoot can be hard work and exploration of the cave – in particular – may be dangerous. Don’t undertake it unless you are skilled and confident – sure footed and have a head for heights.”
Surely that’s enough??
The “E” grade is based solely on the distance and height gain involved in the walk and not on the “technical” nature of the terrain.
Not sure how many stars you intended to give it!!

Apparently there will be attempts to restrict access to Cova Tallada (the cave between Denia and Javea) this year with pre-registration required to make a visit between 15th June to 30 September. Nobody seems to know how this will be organised or policed, but you might want to bear this in mind! It’s to prevent accidents and litter.
