Castell d’Aixa Circuit
Although the ruins of the Castell itself are not impressive the walk to and from it is one of the most popular with our group of walkers. You start by crossing the shallow river Jalon, which generally has water in it here before it disappears underground further downstream. Then up a good old mule track to a pleasant resting place at a casita in an almond orchard followed by a mountain path to the “shoulder” Penyes Blanques, an outlier of Aixa. From here an optional detour to the col below the castle and on to the summit at 607meters.

The grade of this walk is S/A, which means

A – All good tracks.

Recommendations or Restrictions |
The path from Font Baranc D L’Aigue to point 10 on map goes through a property which is now fenced off. It is possible to get round the fencing balancing on terracing but is probably better to avoid potential conflict with land owner and continue along path to signpost then turn back left along marked paths. The old yellow white signs where the original walk turned left passing property have been painted over. Probably adds a km to walk.
Map, description and gps file now amended to reflect this change in land ownership.
