Montgo Summit from Denia (Denia cross summit – optional)
An “up and down” walk with a steady climb to the summit. 360 degree views from the top. Slight scramble and a little taxing initially from the summit – helps to have long legs! Also helps to be sure footed with a head for heights.

The grade of this walk is VS/B/Scr/X, which means
VS – Very Strenuous: More than 800 metres ascent and/or more than 20km in length with steep, loose or heavily vegetated sections.
B – Less than half the route on rough ground.
Scr – Scrambling: This implies the need for handholds to ascend steep rock pitches with a sense of exposure to vertigo and where a slip could lead to a serious accident.
X – Experienced walkers route: the route requires considerable stamina and/or significant scrambling skills on rough, steep or exposed sections.

| Directions to start |
From the motorway (AP7) or the N332 take the CV725 to Denia. A short distance after the hospital on your RHS there is a brown sign “Parque Natural de Montgo” From here it is signed all the way. As you approach the town the road becomes a duel carriageway. About 10m after the 4th island turn R. Proceed straight on at some traffic lights to an off-centre island and continue down a duel carriageway. Go straight on at a small island and turn L at the next which, after a short distance, brings you to a large island. Take the first exit, continue to the next island and go L/straight on keeping the filling station on your RHS. (your now on “Cami Pou de la Muntanya”) Continue over the railway line (small station on the LHS) and on. Bear R at a junction, (your still on “Cami Pou de la Muntanya”) go L at a fork with a Farmacia sign on the wall and continue a short distance to where the road bears to the L. Turn R here onto “Ctra de Colonia del Montgo”. Continue through a L then R zig zag, ignore the roads that join on your LHS, and keep going up to “Calle Fenas” where you park. |

VS indeed, a lot of scrambling!! Easy to wander off from the main track so a map is required. I used the viewranger app with the gpx file, very handy to have it on your phone. Otherwise a lovely walk, beautiful area, view from the summit is breathtaking, literally cause by the time you get up there you will be out of it!! Thanks for uploading this, very good website, highly recommended.
